Renaissance 3.0

Full technical management of the Renaissance 3.0 exhibition at ZKM with 53-sensor LiDAR installation.

Role: Full technical management

About the Exhibition

Renaissance 3.0 was a large-scale art/science alliance exhibition at ZKM exploring connections between the historical Renaissance and contemporary media art and science.

My Role

IT project lead for the entire technical infrastructure of the exhibition. The highlight was the deployment of a 53-sensor LiDAR installation covering 1,400 square meters — the largest contactless visitor tracking system realized at ZKM to date. This was the production-scale culmination of the LiDAR system that began as my single-sensor COVID-era prototype in 2020 and was scaled into a full multi-sensor system by Bernd Lintermann (ZKM HertzLabor).

Technical Highlights

  • 53 wall-mounted LiDAR sensors for contactless visitor tracking
  • 1,400 sqm of covered exhibition space
  • Real-time interaction between visitors and artworks
  • Distributed sensor architecture with centralized tracking
