Writing the History of the Future
Technical project leadership for ZKM's largest exhibition to date: 6000 sqm, over 500 objects.
Role: Technical project leadership, 6000 sqm, 500+ objects
About the Exhibition
Writing the History of the Future was ZKM’s largest exhibition to date — a comprehensive presentation of the media art collection for the institution’s 30th anniversary. Over 6,000 square meters with more than 500 objects, spanning photography to interactive installations across all media formats. The exhibition ran from 2019 to 2022.
My Role
As technical project lead, I coordinated the installation and operation of all technical systems across the entire exhibition space. This included planning, setup, and ongoing maintenance during the three-year run. The exhibition was also the site of my first LiDAR contactless interaction deployment — the single-sensor system I developed during the COVID pandemic in 2020 to enable audio-based artwork interaction without touch or headphones.
